Where are the Virgin Islands?
The US Virgin Islands are located at the meeting point of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean East of Puerto Rico. More specifically, they are at 18 20 N, 64 50 W. The US and British Virgin Islands are part of a chain of volcanic islands that run from Puerto Rico to South America.

Are the Virgin Islands really part of the USA?
The US Virgin Islands are. The United States bought them from Denmark in 1917. They are a territory much like Washington DC or Guam and have a non-voting member of Congress. The British Virgin Islands are a part of the British Commonwealth.

When is the best time to visit the USVI?
January to May is probably the best time, there is a good trade wind and no chance of hurricanes. It should be noted though, that the weather is pretty nice year 'round and some great deals can be found during the off season.
